Shipping Costs and Global Increases
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, international logistics costs have risen significantly, in some cases tripling due to higher operational expenses. To keep shipping affordable, we continue to absorb a substantial portion of these costs on behalf of our customers. However, recent changes such as the U.S. Inbound Processing Fee introduced by FedEx and additional surcharges imposed by local postal authorities have further increased shipping expenses. Despite these challenges, we remain dedicated to providing the best possible service at the lowest sustainable rates.
Returns and Shipping Fees
We do accept returns, but please note that return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. We do not issue prepaid return labels or airway bills. Customers wishing to return an item must arrange and cover the cost of the return shipment. We encourage you to carefully review product details and sizing information before purchase to avoid unnecessary return costs.
Shipping Policy: U.S. Customers
All-inclusive delivery (DDP) – We ship using Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), meaning all duties and taxes are calculated and paid at checkout. These charges are not included in the item price itself, but once your order is placed, everything is fully covered and no additional fees will be due upon delivery.
Policy Notice for U.S. Customers - Starting August 29, 2025, U.S. Customs will charge import duties and clearance fees on all orders, regardless of value. We have already included the cost in our price.
We actively monitor updates from the White House and FedEx to stay informed of the latest regulations and charges, ensuring our customers receive the most accurate and transparent information.
By purchasing on our website, you agree to this term.
We work closely with FedEx to ensure that you are charged the minimal possible import fees based on the actual item price. Other couriers, such as USPS often used by other online stores, may result in higher charges of up to $250. Choosing 9 Star Jewelry means you don't have to worry about any extra charges, making your shopping experience smoother and more affordable.
European Union (EU) Shipping, VAT, and Import Fees (IOSS)
We ship all EU orders using express shipping services, typically via FedEx Express (or an equivalent courier depending on destination and availability). This ensures fast delivery, secure tracking, and reliable handling.
Orders under €150 (approx. USD $175) (IOSS applies)
For EU orders with a total value below €150, we use the Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) system.
- VAT is calculated and collected separately at checkout
- VAT is applied based on your country’s standard rate (see reference below)
- VAT is remitted through our IOSS intermediary
- No additional VAT is charged upon delivery in most cases
Orders above €150 (approx. USD $175)
For EU orders above €150, IOSS does not apply. Your shipment may be subject to:
- VAT, charged based on your country’s rate
- Customs clearance or courier handling fees
For example, FedEx may apply disbursement or clearance-related charges for shipments requiring import processing.

Shipping Policy: Australian Customers
Under the Malaysia–Australia Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA), jewelry produced in Malaysia receives a 0% import duty when shipped to Australia. However, please note that the Australian government may still impose a Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10% and a customs clearance fee, which may occasionally be waived. These additional charges, if applicable, are determined and collected by Australian customs authorities and are the responsibility of the buyer.
Shipping Policy: UK Customers
All orders are shipped from Malaysia. Please review the following details before purchasing.
Default Shipping (Registered International Mail)

- Final delivery in the UK is handled by Royal Mail.
- Tracking is provided, but delivery times are longer compared to express courier.
FedEx Express (Optional Upgrade)
- FedEx delivery is available upon request, including after an order is placed.
- Availability depends on whether the delivery address falls within FedEx’s standard service area.
- Addresses outside standard service areas may incur high surcharges, making the upgrade unsuitable.

- Duty/Tax of £0.01 – £42.50: 30% of Duty/Tax (minimum £6.65).
- Duty/Tax of £42.50 – £510.00: Flat £12.75.

Transparency of Costs
- The above estimates are provided as guidance.
- Final charges are determined by HMRC at the time of import.
- Customers who are uncertain should check directly with HMRC or consult a licensed customs broker before placing an order.
Responsibility for Payment
- All duties, VAT, and clearance fees are the buyer’s responsibility.
- Charges must be paid to HMRC (if delivered by Royal Mail) or FedEx (if delivered by courier) before delivery.
- Refusal to pay may result in the parcel being delayed, returned, or destroyed by customs.
Shipping Policy - Global
Shipping Origin & Processing Time
All orders are shipped from Malaysia within 1–5 business days after payment is received. Please note that this processing time excludes Saturdays, Sundays, and Malaysian public holidays. Orders are dispatched using either Express Standard Shipping (with tracking, where available) or FedEx International Priority, depending on the option selected at checkout.
FedEx International Priority Restrictions
If you select FedEx International Priority as your shipping option, please note that FedEx does not deliver to P.O. Box addresses. If a P.O. Box is provided at checkout, we will automatically downgrade the shipment to Express Standard Shipping. No compensation or refund of the shipping cost difference will be provided in such cases.
Out-of-Area Deliveries (FedEx International Priority)
If you select FedEx International Priority and your delivery address falls outside FedEx’s regular service areas, your shipment will be downgraded to Express Standard Shipping. No compensation or refund of the shipping cost difference will be provided in such cases.
Upgrades to FedEx
In certain circumstances, we may upgrade your Express Standard Shipping to FedEx International Priority without prior notice. This can occur, for example, if prepaid package options for standard delivery are unavailable. Please note that any import duties, taxes, or clearance fees remain the sole responsibility of the customer. No compensation or order cancellation will be accepted in such cases.
Unclaimed, Returned, or Address Issues
If a parcel is unclaimed at home or the post office, it will be returned to us. We can resend it, but the shipping cost will be the customer’s responsibility and may be higher than the original checkout amount, as we already absorb a large portion of the shipping cost. If the parcel is sent back, due to high shipping rates, we will not compensate you for the loss or provide any reimbursement. For this reason, it is very important to provide the correct and complete shipping address when placing your order.
We will send out an email once your item has been shipped. If the parcel is marked as delivered but you have not received it, please notify us immediately (within one week) so we can work with the courier to correct any wrong deliveries. No compensation will be provided if we are informed after this period.
For FedEx shipments, extra charges will apply if you request a change of delivery address after the parcel has been sent out. For Express Standard Shipping, once a parcel is dispatched, the address cannot be changed and the shipment is final.
If the delivery problem arises due to an incorrect address provided at checkout, we may, at our discretion, offer partial compensation in the form of store credit. Please note that being courteous and cooperative in such cases goes a long way in helping us assist you.
Important! Delivery Time
We do not have direct control over the delivery time, as it depends on the courier and customs processes in your country. Any refund for late delivery will only be given if the item does not arrive within 45 days from the date of purchase. Refunds will be provided in the form of store credit, or the item may be resent free of charge. If you notice a delay, please inform us as soon as possible so we can help expedite the shipping process and resolve any complications with the courier.
Duties & Taxes
Many countries, especially in Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, charge import duties and taxes on incoming parcels. These charges are the responsibility of the customer. If a customer refuses to pay the required duty, the order will be considered forfeited, and no refunds or reimbursements will be provided.
We do not reimburse you for the duty or the shipping cost of any item returned due to non-payment of duty. Refunds, if applicable, will only be issued after deducting the shipping cost (to and from) as well as any other deductions outlined in our refund policy.
IMPORTANT! Combined Shipping
You can combine shipping cost with a single purchase. However, due to certain restrictions, we cannot combine shipping costs from two separate purchases, even if they are being sent to the same address by the same buyer. This is because we do our best to ship your items as quickly as possible.
For the best value, please purchase all the items you need in a single order.
IMPORTANT! Wrong Shipping Address
If you have provided an incorrect shipping address, you must inform us immediately before the item is shipped.
Once the item has been shipped, any request to change the address will incur a USD $20 address correction fee.
If a wrong or incomplete address is provided and the parcel reaches the local delivery facility, we will attempt to contact you. If no response is received within 5 days, the parcel may be destroyed or returned by the courier. In such cases, no refund will be issued.
If a parcel is returned to us due to an incorrect address, no refund will be issued under any circumstances.
Please note that returned parcels may take significant time and cost to reach us. We are not liable for parcels that are lost, damaged, destroyed, or disposed of due to incorrect address information provided by the buyer.
